This Week’s Pick: TechSoup for the Soul
By: Laura Warren, Libraries Thriving Coordinator
Last week, I gave a presentation titled “Stepping Out of the Vacuum without Leaving Your Desk” at the Library 2.012 virtual conference. This is one of my favorite presentations to give because, though I start out with the same base slides each time that I give this talk, I always end up adding new examples of online spaces for collaboration to my core examples. At the Library 2.012 virtual conference, there were no shy librarians in the audience so the suggestions kept pouring in. For this week’s Required Reading, I’d like to direct you to TechSoup for Libraries, one of the resources shared with me by a fellow librarian.
TechSoup for Libraries is one of the projects by TechSoup Global, a nonprofit that focuses on affordable technology and technology education for libraries all over the world. This online space shares resources and hosts Tweet chats and webinars that benefit public libraries and librarians. Don’t have time to attend the live sessions? That’s fine! TechSoup understands. Check out their events archives when you do have a minute or read a quick spotlight article about a local library.
