Because Everyone Loves a Good Bibliography…
By: Laura Warren, Libraries Thriving Coordinator
This week’s Required Reading pick comes with a dare. I dare you, readers, to attempt to read every single article about your specialty that was published last year…
Finished trying already? It’s okay, you gave it a valiant effort and I don’t think it matters if your specialty is rock collecting or reference interviewing, it’s just about impossible to read so many articles. Oh, our Information Age!
Fret not, though, because that’s where annotated bibliographies like Reference Research Review: 2011, this week’s Required Reading pick, come in. This list includes articles about reference published in 2011 and covers everything from Web 2.0′s effect on reference interviews to users’ satisfaction with Yahoo! Answers. It’s especially beneficial that though most require access to The Reference Librarian or other subscription journals, many do not, meaning that those who find themselves outside of a traditional library environment and therefore lack access to the go-to databases are able to get in on some of the fun as well.
